Lady London







Julie London is amongst the vocalists I prefer to listen to in the evenings whilst relaxing in my bathtub. I love her slow, smoky and sensual voice so I thought I'd share with you what I know about this beautiful bombshell.

Nicknamed "The Liberty Girl" for helping establish the reputation of recording company Liberty Records, Julie London was born in California on September 26, 1926. Her original name was Gayle Peck.

Being a spokesperson for Marlboro cigarettes during the late 1950's through to the early 1960's ended up backfiring on Julie as she died of poor health in her later-life resulting from her long-term cigarette habit.

Julie was the daughter of a vaudeville singing/dancing couple. She attended the Hollywood Professional School and was discovered (though I prefer the phrase "given her first big chance") by talent agent Sure Carol whilst Julie was working as an elevator operator. Julie had a long, successful career as a singer and an actress.

She recorded 32 albums and her most famous single "Cry Me A River" was written by a high-school classmate Arthur Hamilton. But my favourite song of hers is "Black Coffee".

Last week, I audtitioned for a part in a theatre company and got in. Bombshells like the limelight, even us shy kittens. When we shine brightly we can be blinding, but when we flickers to a dim glow, well... you'd probably prefer not to know about it. We are used to people paying attention to us. It's our part in life to be admired. It is a reason very few people see us "sans make-up"! Louis Vuitton Barbie

This is gorgeous. Just gorgeous with a '70's style thing going on here. And I have to admit I am rather ever so slightly envious of her abundance of accessories. Lucky plasticated bombshell... A Barbie for grown up girls? I think so. Though I have a feeling my little girl would confiscate it from me. I, kittens, am confined to the boudoir today as I suffer from consumption. Ok, not quite consumption. A case of hypochondria perhaps. And a post-nasal drip. Though I might just roll out of bed for one of these beauties. I don't know what one of these gems would cost. Anyone? Are they still available? Who knows..  But for now, I shall just roll over and get back to Club Duvet.

No More For Vanessa And Johnnie

After 14 years as a couple, raising their two children 12 year old Lily-Rose and 9 year old Jack, actor Johnny Depp and his french girlfriend Vanessa Paradis have decided to go their separate ways. I thought it was so romantic for him to buy a private island for them to share together.  These things remind us that nothing lasts forever. Separation.  Was it clash of ego? Was it addiction difficulties?  Confusion of priorities?  What a crying shame and such a common thing to happen, especially for celebrities.
