36 Is Too Young

Image
Norma Jean/Marilyn. What a beauty. It was just too young to die. I wonder what it would be like if she hadn't passed away so young.

Lovely little montage from Chanel.

I thinI think Marilyn would have liked to be payed to be endorsing the product though.

Orange Crush

Image
Here's another color post. Ok, this will be the last post on a color subject for this month. This is probably the most underrated, underused and overlooked color in the entire color spectrum. It's a warm glow of health. A simple orange. There's so much we could do with orange, and not just at this time of year when all we use it for is pumpkins and Halloween decorations! Try slicking some orange colored lipstick on your lips today. Or an orange rinse in your hair Claudia Schiffer (with very slim legs) by the pool Here's Emmy Rossum in orange on a TV chat show. Scarlett Johansson matching her brighter shade of orange lipstick to her ensemble. And Marilyn Monroe in orange Pucci Verushka in Pucci, too. Inspiration in the little details. . . see? Simple. Natural. Pretty. And we have Yasmeen Ghauri in a hot orange bikini. . . and a bouquet. Is that e nough inspiration for you to get your Orange on?

Yellow Fever

Image
It's time to turn our attention to the happy, sunshiny, feel good color of yellow.  Now yellow is not as easy to frock up in as blue or red or even orange ( I'll get to orange sooner rather than later as it's too important to ignore). It's no secret that some women just look better wearing yellow than other women.  And when they wear yellow, wow they look so stunning! Now is the time to experiment to see if you are one of those lucky women who are yellow-friendly and fabulous.  Here we have the lovely Amanda Seyfried in yellow pattern. Yes, yellow agrees with her complexion.  Gina Lollobrigida demonstrating that even if you don't look great in yellow, you can look great on yellow furnishings.  Marilyn. Well, she looked great in everything...  Jaye Mansfield wearing a sunny swimsuit in the studio.  Dior does yellow  Yellow enhances things for Adriana Lima  Modern flower-child Alicia Silverstone in retro 70's prin...

Ms Larue's Song Of The Month - August - Candle In The Wind

Let's remember Marilyn this month with Sir Elton John's song Candle In The Wind, written with Marilyn Monroe in mind.

Marilyn Missed For 50 Years

Image
Has it really been 50 years since the untimely death of Norma Jean? Marilyn Monroe died on 5 August 1962 and we still miss her so much.  This is the Pucci dress Marilyn was buried wearing. Her adorable little poodle Maf is sitting on her lap. Frank Sinatra gave her the puppy Maf (short for Mafia) as a gift. Maf went on to live with Frank's secretary. All the rumours about was she in charge of ending her life or was it ended against her will have never and will never be conclusive. It's known that she had Borderline Personality Disorder so perhaps she knowingly overdosed on barbituates. The coroner's findings were 'probable suicide'. Her Brentwood home. The phone number was  476-1890  Jane Russll and Marilyn Monroe's shoe-prints and handprints on the footpath outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Norma Jean, we love you and we miss you. x

Just For The Ride

Image
We just adore our push-bikes! Bicycle riding is fun, useful, environmentally friendly, cost-saving, a darling form of exercise, easy to park and we just look so adorable on them!  They are social, you can always go for a leisurely ride with your beau.  A Bombshell can learn to ride from an early age, as our dear little Shirley Temple demonstrates.   This is my favourite bicycle at the moment. It's the Hollander-W in pink and it's also available in black or white, only for a limited time. So hurry and order one soon!! Find your new bicycle here:   http://www.made.com/leisure/bikes  And if we don't want to use our bountiful energy today, we can slide onto our trusty Vespa. Just remember to wrap that all-important scarf around your hair and wear your stylish sunglasses!   Whee!!! Although Bombshells love to be independant, many Bombshells prefer to be chauffer-driven on their bicyles.  This Bombshell...

The Studio Club

Image
Can you imagine Maureen O'Sullivan, Marie Windsor, Marilyn Monroe, Kim Novak, Sharon Tate, Diana Hill, Barbara Eden, Rita Moreno, Evelyn Keyes, Ayn Rand, Ann B Davis and Linda Darnell living at the one single address? Well, they did. Not all at the same time, mind you. The Studio Club was a residence, though some referred to it as more of a sorority house, open to women seeking a career in any facet of showbusiness It was originally designed by the architect who designed Hearst Castle, to house 88 young women.  The Club hosted acting classes, dances, teas, dinners and occasional plays, fashion shows and stunt nights. The cost was $15 weekly and that included a single or double room and 2 meals daily. How I wish this was still the way of the world! But that's not all folks, it also provided each resident with two meals a day, the all-important sundeck, sewing machines, hair driers, laundry equipment, typewriters, theatre literature, practice rooms and even a rehearsal st...

Good To Go Green

Image
This year I'm unveiling green. In my opinion, like orange, it's an extremely underrated colour. Let me give you a little touch of visual inspiration to get in there and fetch that green frock from the back of your wardrobe. Dita Von Teese knows green is good and wears it frequently. Christina Hendricks in deep green Drew Barrymore Marilyn Monroe   Scarlett Johansson Grace Kelly Marcia Cross Jayne Mansfield
