Yellow Fever

Image
It's time to turn our attention to the happy, sunshiny, feel good color of yellow.  Now yellow is not as easy to frock up in as blue or red or even orange ( I'll get to orange sooner rather than later as it's too important to ignore). It's no secret that some women just look better wearing yellow than other women.  And when they wear yellow, wow they look so stunning! Now is the time to experiment to see if you are one of those lucky women who are yellow-friendly and fabulous.  Here we have the lovely Amanda Seyfried in yellow pattern. Yes, yellow agrees with her complexion.  Gina Lollobrigida demonstrating that even if you don't look great in yellow, you can look great on yellow furnishings.  Marilyn. Well, she looked great in everything...  Jaye Mansfield wearing a sunny swimsuit in the studio.  Dior does yellow  Yellow enhances things for Adriana Lima  Modern flower-child Alicia Silverstone in retro 70's prin...

Jean Schlumberger

Image
Jean Schlumberger started working as a button designer for Elsa Schiaperelli. She was the woman who encouraged him to design jewelry for her collections.  After World War II, Jean Schlumberger moved to New York to design clothing for Chez Ninon. In 1946, he opened his jewelry salon. Jean Schlumberger designed Tiffany's most famous creation 'Bird on a Rock',  which was the mounting for the yellow 'Tiffany Diamond'.  He is one of only 4 celebrated jewelers allowed to sign work at the famous Tiffany &Co. His client list included Greta Garbo, John F Kennedy, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Gloria Vanderbilt and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Kitten with the Violet Eyes

Image
I've been flying around the world so many times and feel so guilty as I just haven't had time to sit and write about the passing one of the greatest Bombshells of the silver screen. Her nickname was Kitten, the first woman to earn 1 million dollars for acting in a film, with her own successful line of perfumes (before every minor starlet and her dog jumped on that bandwagon) and she had one of the most stunning jewelry collections in the world. If you haven't yet guessed who I'm writing about, think of an actress with vivid violet eyes, a woman who was married 8 times and an incredible supporter for the fight against AIDS, Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor. About being the first woman in history to earn a whopping million dollars (for the title role in Cleopatra), Elizabth said, "If someone's dumb enough to offer me a million dollars to make a picture, I'm certainly not dumb enough to turn it down." She was also quoted saying, "Success is a great de...

Elizabeth's Krupp

Image
ART AT AUCTION The Year at Sotheby's and Parke-Barnett 1967-68: "A diamond ring by Harry Winston, New York $305,000. From the collection of the late Vera Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach. The highest price ever paid (at the time) at auction for a diamond ring." Elizabeth Taylor bought this diamond for herself. What a woman, treating herself to something beautiful! It weighs 33.19 carats (the stone) and she's worn it in every film she's appeared in since. This includes an episode of The Simpsons, in which her eye is reflected in the image of the diamond whilst she's polishing her Academy Awards. You see it, you love it and you can afford it, then you should buy it. You really are worth it! kitty x
