Jayne Mansfield

Screen legend Bette Davis once said of Jayne, "dramatic art in her opinion is knowing how to fill a sweater."

Born Vera Jane Palmer from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. This girl became Jayne Mansfield, famous for being, well, Jayne Mansfield.

You probably know of her daughter, actress Mariska Hargitay from the TV show Law and Order SVU. At the age of 16, Jayne eloped to marry Paul Mansfield. She had a baby girl with him, Jayne Marie. Then she divorced Paul 8 years later, but kept his surname. She married former Mr Universe Mickey Hargitay a mere 5 days after the divorce. He gave Jayne a 10 carat diamond and Jayne wore a pink lace gown for the wedding.
The house they lived in was called "The Pink Palace" on Sunset Boulevard. It had a fountain full of champagne, all rooms furnished in pink and they even had a pink heart-shaped pool piped underwater music.
To compliment their insanely pink home, they also housed a menagerie of 30 dogs, 1 elephant, monkeys, donkeys, ocelots and dozens of cats.
6 years after marrying Hargitay, a man according to May West to be "the most perfectly built man in the world," they divorced and Jayne married Matt Cimber (director) 1 month later. This marriage only lasted 2 years. It produced a son and an alcohol dependence. Jayne also had affairs with JFK, director Nicholas Ray, novelist Henry Miller, actor Richard Egan, fashion designer Oleg Cassini and her daughter Mariska is roumored to be the daughter of actor Nelson Sardelli.
When she was only 34, her vital statistics measuring an astounding 40-21-35.5, Jayne was killed instantly when the car she was travelling in ploughed into the rear of a truck on a fog-filled highway near New Orleans, Louisianna. The crash also killed her Sam Brody her lawyer/lover, her 20 year old driver and 2 pet dogs.
Jayne is buried under a pink, heart-shaped tomb stone in her hometown in Pennsylvania. She's constantly visited by thousands of fans, paying their respects.
